hay out there.. wife got back from her thursday meeting & now she's setteled down with the dog, a v large g&t (maid be me) & watching terminator 2 on the telly with her ipad on her lap looking up places to go for our holiday (& googling symptoms of to many antibiotics as my 16 year old is getting signs of ibs).

so now is a good time to say hello.. well hello.

my name is phats & i'm an ex jehovah's witness.. there, i've said it.. this must be like it is going to your first aa meeting.. i've already used up some of my posts for a newbe but i'm not in to the whole long story thing.. basically i've been out now for 8 years (mentally out for all but four or five of those years of my life when i made the commitment, got baptized & married.).

i'm in my final re-write of the monorails of mars novel.. as you may know, the book is a sci-fi allegory concerning mind control by the watch tower.. .

i have a scene in nikola tesla's laboratory in which he is about to attempt an exchange between mars and earth.. the volunteers--instead of actually traveling physically from one planet to the other will instead swap minds.. need i say--it will go wrong?!.

Just letting you know I passed the exam

hi, my apostate friends.. a couple of weeks ago i asked for some advice regarding studying methods.

then some of you asked me to let you know my score after i take the exam at mineralogy.. i scored 90%.

i'm pretty happy with it because the exams i take are not in my native language.. if i keep up with the good scores i might get a scholarship and then bye bye watchtower society.

it is quite amazingly good.

funny, sad and poignant all at the same time.. my 14yr old son got me watching it.. .

An Unsettling Experience

in the year 2011, i was very ill with severe anxiety and panic attacks.. my psychiatrist prescribed two potent anti-depressants.. one day, when i was all alone, i heard a distinct voice say, "there are knives in the kitchen - small, medium, and large ...".

the voice trailed off, but the meaning was clear: use one of those knives on yourself!.

my niece in atlanta reported a similar experience when she was prescribed the same anti-depressants following a stillborn delivery.. i'm curious.. has anyone else experienced something like this?.

If it was possible to do a number count, I wonder how many of us here suffered/suffer with anxiety/panic issues? I know my anxiety got much better after I had my lucky escape from the Borg......it was no fun being made to feel so completely useless and unworthy because I couldn't go out on the ministry and really affected my self-esteem too Boo to those who ever made us feel like that!

I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks, and have often experienced auditory or visual inconsistencies during the build up.......but nothing like you are describing where I hear a voice when I am alone..........perhaps a combination of the medication and being very anxious contributed to this?

How do individual JW's justify Jehovah's Old Testament orders to kill little children even babies (amalekites, canaanites)?

in 1. samuel 15:2-3 we read jehovah's order to kill "all" amalekites.

it says "you are to put them to death, man as well as woman, child as well as infant...".

in deuteronomy 2:32-34 the israelites say about sihon.

This was something that never sat right with me. The Elderette I studied with could never give me a satisfactory answer, so she brought the visiting C.O's wife one day as a surprise....how nice.....and she explained that the Old Testemement was only applicable until Jesus Randsom. Basically, it didn't matter anymore.

She didn't stay long.
